Hi all,
I desire a future that is filled with art, meaning, purpose, clarity, an expanded field of imagination in us that help us see more complexity, more beauty, more possibilities, a new ‘collective’ way of thinking that is not inherently colonial and extractive, a future where we collaborate across cultures, more with one another, and most importantly a future where we gain the ability to heal and restore when harm is done, to heal old wounds and bring to the surface unknown and unseen legacies that keep fueling vicious cycles. This the aim of my life: imagination will save humanity and embracing a critical need of culture fused with the technology to help us imagine and build a better world. Can science fiction and fantasy stories help us see and feel more?
I haven’t sent an email for quite sometime but life in Los Angeles has been an incredible step in defining further what type of future I want to live. My vision is the clearest it has ever been in my life. I am grateful for that. Change is imminent. Imagination is at the center of this planetary change. I re-branded this newsletter to now “Imagineering The Future” to put a greater emphasis on the necessity we each have to create and imagine the future. I will still explore everything in “Fabrice’s World” ~ the projects at Syllble Studios, my many creative endeavors, my writings and visions across my life. I hope you have been well! In this newsletter you will find samples of my latest poetry book I have published, updated on launching a arts movement rooted in collaborative worldbuilding and some of favorite songs I listened this year!
New Poetry Collection Released with SYLLBLE BOOKS: "No More Vagabonds, No More Obscure Wars"
I wanted to share a few excerpts from the newest collection called “No More Vagabonds, No More Obscure Wars” inspired from an Arthur Rimbaud poem, the painting in the front Claude Monet, The Artist's Garden in Argenteuil, 1873.
First Excerpt is from: The Great Remembrance
"I knew that one day all of my life
would be just a single seed, explod-
ing, torching metal meteor, explod-
ing dream particles in the void of the
timeless, of a sterile mother earth, a
sterile soul, unawakened minds, ster-
ile dirt filled with hate and maggots,
maggots, and flies of the Lions
death, killed by the desert breath,
dried of its magic, bones dripping
clean, silver teeth, quiet eyes."
Second poetry excerpt is from: Beautiful Madness
"All the syllables that stung like bees
of pure joy, that bled my eyes to blue
Argentinian sand dunes, beautiful
madness, tap dancing, Spanish
women dancing in red, slapping
hands, blues rivers, blues laughters,
he was me."
Third poetry excerpt is from: Intimacy
"Can we be the children dancing in
the summer rain? Can we share
laughters from the bottom of our
bellies, while our bodies erupting in
endless safety? Can we? Can we
build this imposing Castle build to
defend us against a hostile and
vagabond world?"
Fourth poetry excerpt is from: I Hear The Gods Of Distant Past
"I hear the gods of distant past, the
line up of slaves to clean their quar-
ters, chains on their necks, the hot
sun that saw eternity, modernity, and
futures of distant dreams, I stand on
the shoulder of the undying, the
Black bodies and Black mother and
grandmothers."
This is my second collection I’ve published and you can purchase here.
Launching an Artistic, Social and Intellectual Movement at SYLLBLECON 2023
There is a need to do things differently in a new age for a new era. I am launching an arts movement at SYLLBLECON 2023 on December 9th at 8:00am PT on Syllble’s Youtube channel. An artistic movement centered around collaborative science fiction and fantasy worldbuilding as a social practice that can inspire new collaborations and foster cultural and artistic activism. The premise here is through a fictional world many types of art mediums can rise and it is a sandbox that can invite many other interdisciplinary artists to imagine what that world can look through their collaboration in artistic collective away from the individualistic classical creative model.
By helping each other rather than compete we can push through the noise of our modern era and support artist voices that wouldn’t otherwise have never been heard. I am super excited for the incredible line up of guest of honors speakers who will be sharing short presentation on what is needed in our times to create stories and art that can hav meaningful impact and then holding a conversation on what is the Zeitgeist of our times? We will craft a manifesto that inspires new worldbuilding initiatives at Syllble across universities, college campuses, artist from marginalized identities and collaborations between the cultures from around the world. Our times desperately demands this.
We will also have presentations from six artist collectives and their fictional worlds at Syllble and some incredible judges in Hollywood. I hope you can join us. To learn more and read more, visit: https://syllble.com/syllblecon/
